NHS CHAT:
Continuing Healthcare Tool
The Quiqcare Continuing Healthcare Assurance Tool (CHAT) is used by all ICBs & Sub Locations enabling them to meet their quality assurance obligations for CHC (Continuing Healthcare).
Quiqcare CHAT enables ICBs & Sub Locations to rate their CHC Provision against the KLOEs from the National Operating Model, and has additional guidance and best practice examples to help users self-assess their compliance with the Standards. There is an in-built survey that measures patient experience and allows comparison of results
locally, regionally and nationally.
CHAT: Background
In March 2014, NHS England published their National Operating Model for CHC, including guidance for ICBs & Sub Locations and an Assurance and Improvement Framework incorporating a number of Key Lines of Enquiry (KLOE).
In order to facilitate a roll-out of the quality Standards, NHS England approached Quiqsolutions to develop an online assurance tool containing the required Standards based on the proven Quiqcare. A pilot was commissioned involving 10 CCGs, (as they were then, now ICBs & Sub Locations) from London and the Midlands and East regions, and after positive feedback a decision was made to roll-out the system nationally in 2015.

Keeping it all in one place
QUIQCARE CHAT is the online platform for ICBs to record their CHC assurance evidence individually, but also where applicable, as a combined assurance picture (for CSUs or single CHC teams covering multiple ICBs) using the Master Sites' function. NHS England’s Regional lead teams can review evidence periodically and add their own inspection comments. CHAT is a collaborative platform to review ongoing progress with action plans and as a result makes a positive impact on quality improvement.
Real savings
By using QUIQCARE CHAT there are efficiency savings for ICBs and NHS England; using a single system it is possible to compare results “like for like” and to create regional and national reports which can be run on demand showing the real-time position. The Action Plan function enables areas for improvement to be detailed across all participants and stakeholders, these remain visible for all users with email reminders ensuring nothing gets missed.
